Gravity-flow Winery in the Yadkin Valley

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shelton Vineyards is often described as the jewel of the Yadkin Valley. The 33,000-sq-ft gravity-flow winery is surrounded by meticulously pruned vines, relaxing streams and pond, a walking trail, and picnic areas. A friendly and knowledgeable staff conducts informative and educational tours and tastings 7 days a week. The vineyard is one of the largest east of the Mississippi. Our favorite stop on the winery tour is the barrel room.

Upscale Dining

The Harvest Grill, located on the grounds of Shelton Vineyards, offers upscale dining with a bistro style atmosphere. There is enclosed patio seating, as well as an intimate dining room. The food is very good.

Recommendation

Have the crab cakes or butternut squash ravioli at the Harvest Grill and tour the winery. Stroll through downtown Mt. Airy, then head back to Pilot’s Perch Cabin, where you can sip your Shelton wine in the hot tub and see the Yadkin Valley from a different perspective.
