Thirsty Souls, Best Pizza in Mt. Airy

Thirsty Souls Community Brewing in downtown Mt. Airy has great pizza and some excellent local beers just a short drive from Fancy Gap.

The pizza is some of the best we’ve ever had — delicious! Our favorites are “The Pep” and “The Meat”. In addition to the pizza, their menu also includes salads and finger foods.

Their craft beers are also excellent. They serve a few staples on tap all year, as well as seasonal brews and new recipes to fill out the menu. My favorite beer is the Cryptic Kolsch. Wines are also available.

Why Thirsty Souls?

Thirsty Souls Thirsty Soul

The name Thirsty Souls is a take on the funeral home that previously occupied the building. It’s a clever name, but don’t be fooled, as it’s typically a pretty lively place.

Thirsty Souls on Market Street

Thirsty Souls on Market Street

The restaurant sits on Market Street, which is a popular haunt on weekends in Mt. Airy. The street closes down for live music and various other events.

Melva’s Alley

Melva's Alley

Melva’s Alley, which adjoins the restaurant, is a tribute to Melva Houston Tucker, a local singer well known in the jazz and blues world. The alley provides an option for outdoor seating and is sometimes used as a “stage” for Market Street musicians. Additional outdoor seating is available.
